I lived in a small town in Michigan which consisted of only two thousand people, a little high school, and a greasy grocery store where the owner was at least a hundred years old, and had a tangled grey beard. I lived with my mother, and my two brothers. My mother was a hardcore junkie, and my old man was in prison for drug dealing. This was the most reckless thing I had ever done in my life, but I didn't care. I needed to get away from everything even just for a while; I needed to just do something crazy without anybody knowing. I sat in my seat and just looked out in the dark for twenty minutes or so, until the train came to a stop and a young boy with curly hair at around my age stepped inside. He asked if the seat across from me was taken, I shook my head, and he sat down. "What brings you to the midnight train?" He asked with a voice so soft, and so velvety that if I had been standing up, my knees would have cracked under me. The corners of his small lips turned slightly up. "I needed to get away, how about you?" I curiously asked. "Same," he simply said, and pulled his iPhone out when it had sounded from an incoming text.
